These places are personally recommended by local chefs, sommeliers and other people who work on CPH's independent food scene.
Altopalato
» My go-to for north-Italian food. Try their 5-course menu that changes daily for just 530kr. and impeccable traditional Italian service. Have a heartfelt chat with Rolando about growing up by Lago di Garda or Romano about his favorite wines. «

Den Kinesiske Købmand

Bar La Una
» I'm obviously a bit biased with this one as we're all part of the same restaurant family - BUT I can't think of a better place to sit at the bar, grab a couple of dishes, and drink some wine or a Paloma, and talk shit with friends on a Monday. «
Kate Omelia

Admiralgade 26
» The restaurant is uniquely decorated mimicking a cozy and dining room. The team there is always attentive and forthcoming serving amazing wines and food to go with it. «
Thomas Bachmann
Palace Diner

» I wish I could go here every day. Their wine cellar is next level, the kitchen is playful and precise. It’s my favorite place for indulgence, located in a former theatre full of old danish furniture that you can only dream of having at home. «
Lea Sandby
LAGO

» It's a perfect slice of Copenhagen. A bit under the radar, but genuinely great. Beautiful space with solid food served in a way that makes you feel at home. «
Patrik Rolf

» I’ve not been here enough but it’s definitely worth a recommendation. The kitchen is making some truly great vegetarian dishes which are simple but full of flavour. The wine is just as impressive and if you’re a fast eater you can go to the next corner (Ved Stranden 10) for a night cap. «

Friheden

Italo Disco
» Amazing fresh products delivered directly from Italy. Menu creation according the products in the house and they change it very often. Focus on simplicity yet delivering authentic flavors to the guests. Delicious foccacia with even better olive oil. Wine selection is very well suitable with the menu concept. Overall amazing place as well as their other two places Italo Thai and Italo Caffe. My full reccommendation if you want to enjoy authentic italian flavors with hint of nordic style of cooking. «

Lumskebugten
» Living right next to Lumskebugten, I think they perfectly hit that space between classic Danish and contemporary modernity, as they have a good handle on making the place feel like a neighborhood corner. «

Dandelion Burger

Punk Royale Copenhagen
» This restaurant is crazy by his atmosphere.
I really like to bring my friends who don’t nothing about this place it’s always a big surprise for them. Atmosphere and food are great. «

H Table
» This is a great place my father in law recommended to me. I usually order Peking Duck and crispy beef. «
August Magnusson
Bottega Estadio

» H Table has solid Asian classics and is always on point. It's very much a takeaway must in our house. Peking duck, crispy beef, and coconut dessert! «
Kamilla Seidler
Restaurant Lola

» A small Cantonese restaurant run by Ping and He. He was the former pupil of Yan Tao of the amazing Yans Wok. I like having their fried chicken, shrimp toast, Gong Bao chicken, and their crispy duck with Chinese pancakes. «

VinSuperNaturel

Kanalhuset
» A non-pretentious place, that finds a delicate balance between finesse and a homely vibe in both what it serves but also HOW it serves. Storytelling that is neither too long or short; hungry neighbours at the long, robust wooden tables; food that is honest, tasty and generous (a hard to find combination in our capital, nowadays). «

Uformel
» My second home for many years, to me this place was the most important part of my upbringing in the restaurant business. Martin and Frederik has my deepest respect and created one of the most iconic restaurants in Copenhagen. To me they formed not only my carrier but also the Copenhagen restaurant scene. «

Propaganda
» Food is good, wine is great and the vibe is just perfect. «

Gorilla
» The meat packing district (Kødbyen) is one of my favourite hang outs. Especially Gorilla. I usually always go for their seasonal pasta dish and tartar. Great atmosphere, cocktails and always a party with the great staff! Thanks Robin! «
Daniel Olsen
KEYSER Social

» This is the place for a 10-course tasting menu and natural wine on a Monday. «
Mads Jensen
Vores Franske

Bjørnekælderen
» Taste, textures & flavor is something imbedded from very early start in the industry for the head chef and owner Mads. He will serve you a world of flavors on one plate, not being held capture by receipes having to be French, Italian or from any particular place but playfully joins beautiful flavors in a top gourmet presentation. We went for the big bear menu and our pallets and belly’s were forever happy. «

CIRCOLO
» Circolo is the newest member of the Italian group of restaurants counting Mangia, Bevi Bevi & Bar la Una, where I work myself. For me Circolo feels fresh and modern, yet the food is soothing, like your Tuscan nonna is cooking for you. They have a Josper charcoal grill that I’m very jealous of. They cook big chunky pieces of meat and whole fish in there – very delicious! It’s an ideal place to go for many setups, alone for a quick pasta in the bar, with a cute stranger or in a bigger group doing the whole shebang. «
Marie Louise Übermensch Westmark

» There is something about Circolo that is just so cool. Maybe it's the carpet? And the food is a little ugly in the best possible way. I'm a fan. I don't sell wines to them either, though. Why I am not pushing my clients in here? Isn't that what wine importers do?! «

Le Saint Jacques
» Doesn't get more classic French than this. I always go for their terrines, some of their meat dishes, cheese, and crême brulée. Their wine list is getting better and better, so that just makes me want to go there more. «
Mathias Silberbauer
Silberbauers Bistro

» I go for lunch at the terrace at Le Saint Jaques and eat the terrine. «
Mathias Silberbauer
Silberbauers Bistro

» Le Saint Jacques is a new favourite of mine. Nothing fancy at all, just high-end brasserie style. Great wines and classic French and Mediterranean food with old-school technique. In the spring/summer time, they have a perfect lunch spot with sun and no tourists. «

Sushi Anaba

Captain H
» Captain H is a self described Chinese BBQ and Korean bistro run by a very sweet family. One thing I miss terribly about Paris is authentic Asian food. This place is as good as it gets for me. They do lots of different dishes as well as tons if things grilled on sticks. It’s also the only place I can think of in town that offers such a wide variety of offal. Get the grilled veal kidneys, beef tendon, tripe skewers, and spicy tofu skin. Bring all your friends and drink a ton of beers. Amazing service! «

Brasserie Prins

La Neta
» Best tacos in town. Amazing decor and overall just impressive restaurants. The food and the beer just play along. «
Sebastian Wongvisutikul

Casamadre
» Meme and Riccardo opened their dream of an Italian restaurant. Riccardo is an amazing chef and Meme an amazing host, and we can't wait to hang out more at Casamadre. «
Andreas Skou Albertsen & Isabella Kristensen

Pirlo
» A hidden gem in Amager serving Italian food with a nordic twist and great wines from Era Ora's wine storage. Excellent service and a treat for the senses if you love Italian food. «
Martina Grodt
Superbello

PAULI
» Gentrifying Sydhavnen in a cool way ;) «
Mads Klein
Fingers Crossed

» A newish restaurant and the only reason I ever go to Sydhavn. It’s an “accessible” (what a word) approach to nose to tail and farm to table dining with a focus on shared plates. The flavours are tight, the ingredients top notch, the toilet light is red and they have a great list of wines and beers (probably other stuff as well, but I have yet to try them) that are FUN for the whole family, haha. «
Sarach Nielsen

Espehus Kro
» You gotta be fearless to open a place like that in Rødovre! The food is delicious and their young sommelier serves fun and challenging wine pairings. «
Lea Sandby
LAGO

» My go to place whenever I bet a lunch with my friends. The staff is amazingly friendly and the food is delicious, the place is straight out of a Disney movie. «
