Rafa decided to take over his mothers profession as a teacher, but he always had a passion for food. Shortly after getting his Bachelors degree in teaching, he taught english for a few months but decided to quit, and started working as a dishwasher. As he worked his way up through the kitchen he became the head chef of Casa Oaxaca for many years until he was offered a head chef position at a Mexican restaurant owned by the Noma Group and a baker position at Meyers Bagerie by the Claus Meyer Group in Copenhagen, Denmark.
